Royal Hobart Hospital Lay Medical Training
By far the most AMAZING thing that i have had the opportunity to do whilst being employed by the Antarctic Division is the lay medical training which is conducted for 4 people from each station at Royal Hobart Hospital. This training is designed to give the doctor some people on station with enough skills to assist in an emergency theatre situation. I was lucky enough to do the scrub/scout nurse training and 2 others did anaesthetics training. What a humbling experience to see how hard the nurses work and how patient they are with a chef, carpenter, electrician and Bereau of Meteorology observer that have 2 weeks to learn everything they can. AMAZING. I am once again, so lucky!
